THIS MAY HELP

Hello my friend. How are you?

These are very strange times in our land, and can sometimes be difficult to understand for many people. I hope you are coping well and doing what you can to stay safe, and keep the people around you safe.

So many people are working to support their fellow humans; medical staff, shop workers, police, fire fighters, and many many others who’s jobs are crucial. We thank you, and respect each and everyone of you for all you do.

So how can we help ourselves?

In times of change and uncertainty, it is normal to have moments when you may feel anxious, frustrated or even scared … and you are not alone. Sometimes it is easier to ride that downward rollercoaster, where one anxious thought leads easily to another. But feeling any negative emotion about something which is out of your control is pointless, because all this does is make you feel worse than you do already. The best thing to do for yourself is to recognise when you start to feel negative and then choose to do something to change your feelings.

Here’s something which can help you.

When you feel yourself become anxious, angry or worried do this simple exercise:

Think of 4 things that you are thankful for. Think of 4 people you love. Think of 4 places you would like to visit in the future. Think of something you can do right now which will make you feel warm and happy inside.

By just changing your focus you can change your mood.

And lastly I want to leave you with a thought.

Have you ever used affirmations?

Affirmations are a great way to focus your mind on something which is important to you. By repeating a statement over and over, they encourage happy feelings, positive thoughts and attitudes.

Try this affirmation and say it again and again, either in your mind or out loud when you feel anxious.

NO MATTER HOW ANXIOUS I MAY BE IN ANY MOMENT, I TRUST THAT EVERYTHING IS WORKING OUT FOR ME.

Stay safe, stay happy and enjoy the things you can do right now.

With gratitude and hugs

Jacqueline
